WWF: LIFE Ecorest

Every year, thousands of corals and organisms are accidentally caught in fishing nets. This, combined with climate change, causes serious damage to the ecosystem and poses a threat to the biodiversity of seas and oceans worldwide.

The LIFE Ecorest project, led by the Institute of Marine Sciences - CSIC, the fishing sector, and WWF Spain, aims to restore 30,000 hectares of deep seabed in Catalonia and generate a model that can be replicated throughout the Iberian Peninsula.
